Alone, widowed and broke, Eleanor Wright has had enough heartache to last two lifetimes. Now she's about to lose her successful antique store -- just because "silent partner" Benton Bradford has suddenly surfaced to claim his share of the business. As if that weren't enough, a distinguished St. Louis antiquarian has become Eleanor's devoted suitor...but alas, he rings no bells.

But there are bells ringing -- and Eleanor's slowly realizing that her "silent partner" is the one who's ringing them. Had she really called Benton an "uncouth, ill-mannered, loud-mouthed bonehead" the first time he walked through the door of her -- no, their -- shop?
