Nathan Pearson, the former detective of the Chicago police department, dated Mona Pruitt for months, broke up, and she broke free from a mental hospital. Now that she is in hiding, Nathan won't stop until he finds her. He has found himself in a very unhealthy relationship and may have further lost himself. Feeling lost and hopeless, not being able to find Mona causes him to further snap. When FBI agent Melissa Thornton shows up at his apartment, she reveals a lead that will take them to Mona. Nathan suddenly becomes hopeful but soon learns if he wants to find a serial killer, he's going to have to work with one. Then the unthinkable happens: Two new serial killers are committing multiple murders in order to bring down Mona Pruitt. They're painting portraits of people's suffering, but then something doesn't seem right. Because now Mona is hunting them down.
