About This Book

Jack Hamma is on Stags Head Moor in the north of England trying to save an old lady from her daughter who wants her dead. The hunt is on and they are the hunted:
The bullet was so close I could feel the air move as it whizzed past my head. A second bullet came even closer, if it was possible to get even closer without hitting me. Blood was running down my forehead and into my eyes, I had been hit.
But Jack never gives up:
In a sense we were lucky, if you can call running the gauntlet between half wild agricultural workers with thunder pipes in their hands lucky, at least they didn't have precision manufactured sniper rifles. The firing slackened off, the thunder pipes were on the high ground and as long as we kept low they wouldn't see us but the beaters were steadily approaching the heather where we were hiding, slowly and inexorably they came on. I decided our best option, not that we had many, was to keep still, like an inanimate object, that way the beaters would see us but not notice us. It's a fairly successful strategy, some animals use it, hares, rabbits, quail, instead of running sometimes they freeze and hope that the fox or cat or wolf goes right past them, often it does.

A youngish bloke in black jeans, a black T-shirt,rubber boots and a cloth cap walked right by but then stopped and turned around, he took a second look and this time there was no mistake, I knew he had seen us. Our eyes met, he froze and was about to shout when I pulled him to the ground, grabbed his beating stick and hit him with it. He was out cold. I took his cloth cap, positioned it on my head, stood up and began beating his dustbin lid with his stick following the rest of the beaters. I looked at Adair.
'Keep your head down,' I said.
'What are you going to do?'
'Keep them away from you, keep still and stay down.'
'What a resourceful young man you are.'
'I'll be back,' I said.

  • 'I thought I had run out of good things to say about the Jack Hamma books then I read this one. It's an action packed action adventure and it's fun and raises a smile but it's more than that, it deals with global warming, climate change and saving the rain forests. Jack is a reluctant conservationist but a 17 year old girl with a gun changes all that. This is the book you must read and then tell others about.'
  • 'My favorite so far in fact they are all my favorite so far!'
  • 'You keep writing them I'll keep buying them and reading them.'
