With only three weeks in which to perform a miracle, was it any wonder Maggi Cole was in a panic?

The whole world seemed to be conspiring against Maggi, producer of the biggest charity extravaganza New York had ever seen. Petulant actresses raged about their hotel accommodations. The show's choreographer threatened to quit. And worst of all, Maggi needed to find an angel willing to donate a cool quarter million against -- or to defray -- production costs.

Brent Sommerfield, director of the Wallaby Foundation, was Maggi's last hope. She planned to storm the fortress of his conservative, thrifty little heart with everything short of bazookas.
