Matthew is rich, gorgeous and blissfully single when he meets Gayle, and instantly knows she is ‘the one'. But he soon realises that she is unlike the women he is used to dating, and that she is haunted by something in her past. He sets about wooing her in ways that Gayle finds hard to resist and eventually she is able to lay her ghosts to rest and allow her true feelings to run free. After a romantic weekend in Paris they begin to plan their life together, and all is wonderful despite Christmas with his family. And then Matthew goes to New York on business and a shocking incident involving someone from his past turns everything upside down.
