In the city of Austin, Texas, the Pierce Library is an armored fortress guarding the literary wealth of the world. Operated by a cadre of unknown women, and ruled by a Mystery. The Library also features a facility which allows Patrons to carry out private research. One of the Patrons develops what he feels is a practical method to acquire immortality. He wishes to fine tune his process, but is shot to death before he accomplishes this; leaving his discovery buried within the Library. Now the nations of the world are at each other's throats . . . murder is the order of the day . . . and the greatest secret in the world is in the hands of a madman!
