Known all over Harpers Ferry, West Virginia -- and up and down the C & 0 Canal -- for her tempting baked goods, the ever industrious Alexandria Paine has a new, venture in mind: selling handmade quilts. But her money making scheme is disrupted when boatman Rush Duncan returns to town, with Alex's ten-year-old cousin in tow. Recently -- and mysteriously -- orphaned, the child has been sent to the only family she has left. As charmed as she is by Rush's fondness for her cousin, Alex is just as wary of his devilish good looks and wandering ways.
