When young Paul Mitchell is bitten by a hamster on his first day in practice, he begins to question his decision to become a vet. During his six months in the hospital where a hawk-eyed elderly receptionist rules the roost, Paul encounters eccentric characters from all over the animal kingdom. These include bald cockatoos and lame camels, as well as the actress Francesca Cavendish—famous for her cat ads—and the notoriously persnickety sisters Madge and Rose Stockwell. Filled with zany capers as well as a swearing mynah bird and an anaconda with a penchant for making its way into the fridge, this is a humorous and exciting look at the life of one unfortunate vet.
