About This Book

Jason Spradlin, a young faculty at a large university, is thrust into a range of problems and issues when he is chosen to serve as the Acting Head of Biology. He confronts a senior faculty for his threats to a female graduate assistant. He enrages another by denying tenure based on his lousy teaching performance. The rage becomes deadly as Jason's wife is shot and killed. Jason struggles with the loss of his great love as he tries to comfort his two young children. Then he finds himself in a battle before a Congressional committee as he defends a valuable colleague and his sensuous post-doctoral fellow accused of publishing false information. Jason discovers the underlying goal of the accusers and reveals their hypocrisy in a public hearing. Jason discovers love again with the post-doctoral fellow. And in spite of his vow to avoid administrative positions, Jason develops a growing interest in the leadership role and becomes a candidate for the permanent position.
