Percy Wade and Mae Rutherford Gillespie

This is the story of five generations of the Gillespie family of Lawrence County, Alabama. It includes family stories, historical documents and many family photos with some dating back to the 1800's. My Gillespie ancestors were true pioneers and they had many great adventures along the way. I am very thankful to have such wonderful ancestors who fought in many wars through the years to keep America free and to insure that their faith and values were passed down to their children and grandchildren. I hope you enjoy this true account that starts with my grandparents- Percy and Mae Gillespie and goes all the way back to the original James and Jennet Gillespie who landed in Pennsyvania in the 1740's to make a better life for their family.
