Patience Becomes a Lady

The Hawthorne Diaries series by author Olivia Andem, depicts two fictional country estates during the Regency period. The stately manor houses not only provide the background but also illustrate various aspects of English history that involve the characters. Wadleigh Park is ancient, sprawling and in great need of costly repairs. It is the center of life for the parish of St. Giles, the childhood home of the title character. Reflecting her youthful feelings and opinions, a quotation from Patience's private journal begins each chapter.
