About This Book

Gertrude married the man of her dreams Sylvester Singleton. He was a tall, handsome, light complexioned man with dark curly hair and eyes that seemed to look into your very soul or so Gertrude thought. She loved him from the first moment she set her eyes on him but she never for one moment thought that he would look her way much less to love her. When he asked her to marry him she was at a loss for words and he got nervous thinking that she did not want to marry him. Finally she found her voice and gave him the answer he wanted. They were married quietly. It was a beautiful affair. She prayed that it would last forever. Five blissful years into the marriage and four beautiful children later, disaster struck again. Her world was torn apart by the sudden death of the only man who truly loved her and whom she had ever loved. Soon after the passing of her husband, her in-laws, who desperately despised her, demanded she moved out of the house her husband built on family land. She refused and disaster struck again. The house that was so lovingly built by Sylvester was burnt to the ground with three of her children in it. There were speculations but nothing could be proven. After losing everything, she looked forward to nothing. She began to slowly withdraw into herself, that is, until a special man showed an interest in her. An interest that might prove to be her only hope and salvation.
