About This Book

A 3 Act Play set in Persia around 480BC, during the reign of King Ahasuerus. A young Jewish woman, Hadassah, is chosen from a bevy of beautiful virgins, to be queen; her work is crucial in saving her own people from destruction around that time through her intercession with the king. This is based on the Biblical story of Esther and could be used by an amateur or professional group of actors. The author was trained in the Brendan Smith Academy in Dublin and has experience as a director and actor on stage and on screen. The settings are suggested with clever use of lights and backdrops: as an aid to performers and directors involved in a large or smaller [several parts each] cast. This play is funny, provocative, stirring, heartwarming and will leave the audience satisfied if well produced. The author would be happy to assist in any way to make this play a success for any group interested. This would also make a rather good movie!
