Overcoming Maggie

Maggie Simmons finds herself in a state no woman wants to be in. Her adult daughter Roni is killed when a man carelessly fails to heed a stop sign. Within days, her husband Nick leaves her for another woman. But Maggie has to be strong for her son and three granddaughters. She quickly realizes the grief is too much to handle on her own, but she is unwilling to burden her family. Instead she finds that some of Nick's hidden whiskey briefly numbs the pain and helps her get through the nights. But when that crutch causes injury and great embarrassment, Maggie knows she has to do something. A stay in a "resort" is ineffective in helping her let Roni go, but she does come to understand that there are so many others with worse needs than she has. Maggie decides that she must face the man who killed Roni, but can she forgive him? Can she reconcile with her sister after being estranged for twelve years?
