During the turbulent beginnings of the Revolutionary war two prominent families -- one patriot, one loyalist -- fight on opposing sides for the causes in which they so strongly believe. The Logans of Boston and the Whitestones of New York, though intertwined by marriage and friendship, are divided by the bitter conflict that is destined to sever the colonies' ties with England and forge a bold new nation.

Bayard Logan, fiercely patriotic, takes arms against the British not only for the cause of freedom, but also to pursue a personal vendetta. Captured and made prisoner, he seems doomed to a slow, agonizing death -- unless his sister, Bonnie, in love with a dashing British cavalry officer, can save him.
