When Genesis Blackmore returns to Sector 12 of the Dark Colonies to start her next semester at the Academy, a new breed of humans, called Gen One's, have been intricately ingrained into New Earth's s society. Treated as slaves to the evolving vampiric population, they hold no true status in life. Genesis, a Gen One herself is now faced with the harsh reality; she too, could become enslaved. Matched to Xander Treegold, she questions his motives at every turn when his promise of an equal partnership changes after the Genetics Council realizes her true lineage.
