Ophelia Cox

The full title of this rare Victorian spanking novel is 'Ophelia Cox. A True Tale by a Young Governess'. Whether or not the tale is true is unknown. Whether ‘Ophelia Cox' was the author is also unknown. The alternative title is 'With Rod and Bum, or Sport in the West End of London'. The novel was first published in Paris in 1892. It is fairly short, being some 17,900 words in length, and tells how Ophelia Cox, a governess, finds herself in Mrs Smith's upperclass brothel. The novel ends with Ophelia as a madam in her own London establishment catering for gentlemen with a taste for flagellation.
