Once A Marine

The novel's theme is built around the wartime experiences of a young man from the Midwest. Discontented with the future in the small town in which he lives, he joins the Marines and experiences the fire and brimstone of war in the South Pacific. Love, life, duty, responsibility and soul-searching give this story its strength and compassion. From the first passionate love with consequences, to final acceptance of unconditional love with its mature surrender to anticipation of future happiness, the reader is swept up in the anguish of indecision, the web of deceit and the ever-present knowledge that duty to the Marine Corps is primary. It takes the reader into the war as the man on the ground fought it!
