Of Shards and Shadows is a twisted tale about a being â€"the Shadow Walkerâ€" whose only purpose is to bear witness, to remember the worlds that would otherwise have been forgotten, and to keep track of those self-aware species that have been lost along the way. It is a lonely existence, one that has no hint of a beginning, and no prospect of an end... one that is suddenly disrupted when it stumbles upon a world inhabited by a species that is literally allergic to its presence.
Unable to move forward, the Shadow Walker must find a way to overcome what amounts to an unprecedented obstacle, and in doing so it might just learn something that its almost endless knowledge had actually kept from it.
The present volume combines into a single story a fully revised version of the book originally published under the title of The Shadow Walker, and The Shard, a tale that was meant to be its sequel.
