Noelene Knows Best

Julia and her family have to escape a bushfire but Noelene the pet chicken is nowhere to be found. It is Christmas and summer in Australia. Noelene, Julia's pet New Hampshire chicken has begun to lay eggs. She choses a different nest each day and Julia's family have to watch the chicken because she makes nests all through the house. The day after Christmas the weather is very hot and Julia's family are advised to leave their home because of a rapidly approaching bushfire. The SUV is loaded with belongings along with Kevin the kelpie pup and Nicola the cat. Julia frantically searches for Noelene as the fierce fire closes in. But the chicken is nowhere to be found.
