Eve had worked hard as a model so that she could support her younger brother, Ted, through his education. It was something of a shock to realise he'd grown up enough to want to marry his Lucie. But it was an even bigger shock to learn that Lucie's older brother Jack was extremely wealthy - so much so he considered Ted a fortune-hunter and was flatly against the marriage.
