Nina's Story

Nina’s Story is a novel about love, and hardship, and the triumph of hope over despair. Set in post-WWII Ukraine, the story follows Nina â€" a young girl born into a poor farming family in the breadbasket of Stalin’s Soviet Union â€" as she learns the most difficult lessons in life by living through one of the most tumultuous periods of recent history. Famine and death stalk the countryside during the darkest days of Stalin’s reign, but Nina’s inner strength and her love of family carry her ever forward: determined, optimistic and resilient. Like many lives, hers is a mix of tragedy and triumph, one small current in a tidal wave of history.
