Detective Inspector Reg Tombs is assigned to a serial rape investigation. All the victims have received a savage bite to their necks, and seem strangely affected, more than can be explained by just the trauma. All speak of a horrible mask, and soon the media are dubbing the rapist, the "Vampire."
Reg, divorced, finds himself in the company of the severe, but excitingly beautiful company of newly transferred Detective Sergeant Stephanie Stevens. True love, and not a little lust is kindled in his loins, but overshadowing everything is the hunt for the increasingly violent "Vampire."
