About This Book

Set in Wyoming in the early years of the Great Depression, New Land tells the story of a family that moves out to the West in order to farm and make a new life. Dad Morgan, takes his three children (seventeen year old twins Charley and Sayre and their little sister Hitty) to the claim Dad bought from Sam Parsons.

Trouble besets them immediately and they must, as a family, rise up and overcome every obstacle life throws in their way. Through hard work and strength of character, this family finds it ways through the weeds and comes out stronger and better for it.
