Mystery at the Secret River

Every summer, Courtney, 13, meets up with her same-aged cousin Susan, and they work in her grandparent’s green bean field. They also explore “their” river, and this year, find that, not only has flooding moved the river, but a metal box filled with the hard-earned cash of migrant workers has been uncovered. Courtney fights to help her Mexican friend, Anglos, recover the box, only to find the money gone. Did Rob, Susan’s friend, steal the money? Why is Susan always defending him? And will Courtney ever find the right time to share what means the most to herâ€"her faithâ€"with Susan. Set in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, the story is based on true events.
