About This Book

My Mothers House tells the story of some extraordinary men and women who find themselves, through circumstance that are not of their own choosing sharing their experience together. They are two distinct groups: there is Mugo, Hope, and Mumbi representing the new breed of African affluent elites. They are raised in mansions, on the far side of the country, groomed to take over their parent's empire, oblivious to the misery of Kibe, Njoki and Awiti-- sons and daughters of illiterate peasants. Despite such destitute poverty Kibe, Njoki and Awiti emerges from the backwards corners of a country, but at a price few would be ready to pay. The book brings to the fore the many aspects and contradiction of a country richly endowed with such beauty and so much wealth, but with such stark misery as the two groups interacts.
