My Enemy My Love

Splendidly written by this most erudite of writers, My Enemy My Love is a moving, page turner of a tale of love, war and heroism. Set against a background of resistance to a brutal occupation of Northern France in World War 1, which has been overshadowed by subsequent events, it tells of the courage and endurance of its people in the face of the horrors and tyrannies forced upon them, and is a reminder of the capacity of the human spirit to be strengthened by and overcome adversity. The reader follows the journey of Cosette,her father,Aubert, and her friend Brigitte, as they become embroiled in the resistance to German rule, in the course of which they encounter both humiliation and tragedy. It draws attention too to the major role that women played in this resistance, and to the stoicism and valour which they displayed.
