When three women are found smothered to death in front of their television sets, St. Louis detectives Jason Holiday and Myra Longfellow discover a curious MO. Each victim had her eyes wide open and she stared blindly at the screen while Claire Hunt, the vivacious host of Home Mall, encouraged them to pick up the phone for the deal of the day.

Not one to sit by and let her good reputation -- nor that of St. Louis's extremely popular home shopping network! -- go down the drain, Claire Hunt and devoted husband Gil decide they had better get to the root of this strange, if shocking, crime. So Claire goes shopping. . .for a killer. The cops can only try to stay one stop ahead before Claire ends up bargaining for her life with a murderer, and discovers the high cost of staying alive.
