Sheila Travis ruefully agrees when she is dispatched by her colorful aunt to Charleston to "investigate" some mysterious accidents occurring at the historic home of Mary's childhood friends, Dolly and Marion.

Sheila's hostesses are a monument to Southern hospitality and though a master at protocol, the former ambassador's wife feels boorish by comparison.
