It's not just the summer heat wave making Sheriff Tony Abernathy hot under the collar. He's got trouble every which way in his Tennessee town. But the murder of the mayor's wife, "Queen" Doreen Cashdollar, is particularly disturbing. Using a vicious-looking artifact, someone killed Doreen and covered her body with the antique quilt she'd just loaned to the local museum.

The sheriff's wife, Theo, is faced with her own mystery when an old classmate shows up in Theo's quilt shop, asking questions and seeming a little too intent on catching up. As Theo tries to figure out the woman's true motive, Tony searches for a killer. But the real trouble starts when danger strikes close to home, and Theo confronts pure evil….
