About This Book

In this whimsical and highly entertaining children's book, which is composed of three stories, Mrs. Poddle and Eric, her enormous dog and protector, live together in the countryside. They have a very simple existence until one day Eric has an encounter with a strange animal he finds in the garden. When Mrs. Poddle invites the creature into her cottage, he turns out to be a gorilla, escaped from the local safari park. Eric becomes extremely jealous. Though Eric successfully forces the gorilla to leave, he realises Mrs. Poddle is worried and goes about finding him. What trouble might Eric have inadvertently got himself into? In each of these humorous stories, Eric and Mrs. Poddle experience the joys and challenges of the new gorilla in their life. Rescuing a piglet, hot air ballooning and taking a cart and horse to the beach are just some of the colourful adventures the unconventional family encounters. About the Author: Ruth Young is a teacher and lives in Surrey, England, with her husband and two daughters and their dog, Biggles. She has written a sequel to her published book, Aunty Marmalade, and is working on her first novel for adults. Ruth also plans to continue writing more adventures of Eric and the gorilla.
