About This Book

Mrs Thelma Caldicot is now running a rest home for a bunch of interesting and lively old people. But, inevitably, things don't always go according to plan. Thelma finds herself having to deal with an inebriated cook, a former gardener who turns the lawn into a vegetable patch, an escapologist who insists on being tied up in her chair to practice and a whole host of other "helpful" residents. To complicate things further, two employees from the local council are trying to close down Mrs Caldicot's rest home. They are aided and abetted by the son of one of the residents who has spotted a way to make a profit if Mrs Caldicot loses her license. This is an uplifting comedy about how a group of old people who are overlooked, patronized and under-estimated overcome adversity and malignant opportunism with integrity, hope and a deep-rooted affection for one another.
