Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth'S Secret

When Elizabeth Bennett first meets George Wickham at the annual Meryton Ball, she is immediately attracted. He is handsome and charming and seems genuinely interested in her. They spend the evening sharing stories and are quick to get engaged. After the wedding, however, Elizabeths beloved George changes dramatically. Whereas she expected a life of romance and wonder, it seems George only married her for the dowry. Having amassed numerous gambling debts, he requires her assets.
