I'm Detective Lucien Kane, and usually, being a vampire with a supernatural gift has its perks. I'd kept my identity a secret for decades; only now, my best friend, Officer Theodore Ballard, and partner, Quinn Hastings, know what I am. I hadn't been able to shake Ms. Hastings after my last case when I saved her sister, and now she acts like she owes me a favor. I don't like anyone owing me. When someone starts killing and draining the inhabitants of New Orleans of blood, I'm the one they suspect—and with no other one else on the list, I may have to call in a few IOUs myself. Theodore and Quinn both think I'm guilty, and it's up to me to prove them wrong. Since I'm not the one taking people's lives, that means there's another vampire in town.  I don't take kindly to strangers.
