About This Book

CROWNED BY THE FRENCH ACADEMY

Antoine Gustave Droz was a French man of letters, and the son of sculptor J.A. Droz. He was educated as an painter at L'cole des Beaux Arts, and began to exhibit in the Salon of 1857. He turned from painting to writing, and began contributing under the name Gustave Z. . . . to "La Vie Parisienne," His articles were very popular, and he demonstrated talent as raconteur, observer, and analyst of day to day life.

"Monsieur, Madame and Bebe" collects the sketches originally done for "La Vie Parisienne," They are written in a humorous vein, and procured him many admirers by the vivacious and sparkling representations of bachelor and connubial life. "The devil take me if I can remember her name, notwithstanding I dearly loved her, the charming girl "
