In a world torn apart by an unpopular war, Gary--a dropout from UC Berkeley--flees to Mexico to escape the political turmoil and riots-and, most importantly, to avoid being drafted and sent to Vietnam. Now a fugitive, he becomes involved in the smuggling of Pre-Columbian artifacts, and cocaine. He meets, and falls in love with, a beautiful corrupted young woman from Beverly Hills. The love affair, and the smuggling, forces him to confront a darker side of life, and of himself. He comes to feel he is selling his soul for the possession of the woman, money, and the glitzy Hollywood life style they represent.
