Jane's home life is far from charmed. First there's her mother, who's always drinking and doesn't ever seem to want her around. Then there's her mum's boyfriend, Danny, the latest in a long line of mean, drunk men, always bothering Jane. But Danny is planning something big; and it could give Jane the perfect means of escape from her humdrum existence. For now, Jane escapes into her imaginary world with her rescue dog, Molly. She dreams of the glamorous Isabella, who lives a life of luxury, with beautiful clothes, sunny picnics and happy days stretching in front of her.
