She takes over her grandmother's rental business in the tiny town of Mermaid Cove, Washington and begins a new life. Her solitude doesn't last for long. Brody McCrae, Hollywood's notorious bad boy, shows up on her porch, on the run from the media and his own erratic behavior. Although Maggie has reservations, she lets him stay in one of her cottages. Before long, she realizes Brody is not what he seems. The closer the two get, the harder it is for her to walk away from the life she's desperate to leave behind. In the end she must make a choice between her newly acquired solitude and a man who unexpectedly latches onto her heart and refuses to let go.
