There was an old woman...with a matchmaking plan that could turn a lady's life upside down!

"Sir, you are no gentleman," were Miranda Carmichael's first words to Peter Daviot -- after he had the audacity to kiss her. Indeed, Peter was an adventurer just back from the wilds of British Canada and the nephew of dear, dotty Lady Wiston, who employed Miranda as a genteel companion. Now he was moving into Lady Wiston's eccentric London household. The prospect of having the brash fellow so close gave Miranda chills...and an inexplicable tingle. Of course anything could happen at Lady Wiston's, where the guests could include a prize-fighter, Chinese peddler, or card sharp. And now Lady Wiston had invited yet another nephew, a most proper one, as a potential suitor for Miranda. Yet he seemed to lack...Miranda wasn't quite sure what. Excitement, perhaps? But soon there would be excitement aplenty, for a nefarious plot was afoot that would challenge that forces of true love.
