The enemy within...

Her first day at Clinton General, pretty Mary Winters made up her mind to become the best nurse that Miss Hendricks, superintendent of the school of nursing, ever took on an introductory tour of the hospital. Bright, dedicated, warm and friendly, Mary took a giant step toward her goal during a power failure when she showed the hospital -- and, incidentally, young Dr. Jeffrey Niles -- how well she could be depended on in an emergency. But she couldn't really enjoy her triumph. For one thing, something was bothering her roommate, Barbara, something Mary couldn't get her to talk about. For another, her "big sister," Nurse Evelyn Abbott, suddenly began to treat Mary with bewildering coldness. And then she became the target of an anonymous letter writer and realized that somewhere in the hospital she had an ugly enemy... someone who hated her enough to destroy her dream...
