Timothy is the son of an abusive con man turned carny. He never quite fit in with his folks, having no predilection toward the family's popular acrobatic act. But he has talents all his own. He's the most successful personal entertainer in Mr. Mormon's Marvelous World of Mayhem Circus and Sideshow.

In an America decimated by the Great Depression, the traveling extravaganza is a World of Wonders and a home to outcasts like Mystical Minerva, Towering Tony, Daring Danny, and Timothy's very best friend, Morgan the Mouse Boy.
