Margaret

Margaret never had the option of becoming an ordinary person: a daughter of the miser who ruled Lundin, she was a princess of the Blood Victoria. Her earliest memory is of the slaying of a savage nazeman in the forests that cover much of southern Essex... "Glancing up, I saw a creature in the shadow of the trees - man-like, but exceptionally hairy and uglier than any person or slave has a right to be. My brother started to scream. The beast thing, to which I couldn't yet put a name, tumbled - falling face-down on the grass. Steeling myself to approach, I saw that the shaggy thing had an arrow in its side, bright red blood spread over the green surface on which it lay..." Margaret traces her life from that time to the age of sixteen... to an evening when actions no less violent oblige her to adopt a new name, and an entirely different identity... The next few years of her life will be traced in volume 5 "Tuerqui," volume 8 "Margaret Again" and volume 11 "Tuerqui Again."
