About This Book

Although they were identical twins, the differences between Daphne and Dolores Dubois were do striking, both to appearance and disposition, that most people found it difficult to believe they were even sisters. Yet they were bound not only by the normal affection which might have been expected to unite them, but also by a family ghost--the omnipresent threat posed by the illness which had been fatal to both of their parents.

Dolores found temporary forgetfulness in the antique shop which she had established in the old family homestead; Daphne, more interested in flesh and blood than in objects, sought a position teaching first-graders a few miles away, and the privacy she cherished in a home of her own on a hill.

As a result of having made these decisions, both girls met young men who promised the romance which is every woman's birthright. But the fear of marrying and having children made them reluctant to accept the happiness which life held out to them.
