After the death of their mother, Isabelle Winslow and her sisters must find somewhere to go or continue to be abused by their father. When she and her sisters run into Elizabeth Tandy in Beckham, Elizabeth agrees to send the three of them to friends in Hope Springs, Colorado, as mail-order brides. Albert Thoreau has made his fortune in the silver mines. He owns several businesses in Hope Springs, and he's looked up to by the people there. The only thing he needs is a wife. Contacting a matchmaker back east for a bride, he is sent Izzy Winslow, a woman from a poor farming family. Izzy thinks that Albert only wants her for appearances. Albert thinks they have a perfect marriage. Will the two of them ever see eye to eye? And what is to become of her when his parents come to visit?
