Maddie Jacobs was devastated when her husband of three years was killed. Three months after Adam's death, the women in town took it upon themselves to arrange for her to marry again. She felt it too soon, but they wouldn't take no for an answer. Before she knew it, she was standing in front of the Reverand repeating wedding vows to retired Marshall, Luke Cole, who made her feel things her late husband never had.

Luke's wife died two years ago and he was lonesome, so when his friend, Blake Barker, told him about Maddie, he agreed to marry her, hoping for the best. When he met Maddie, he felt he made the right choice, but soon thought she'd never stop comparing him to her late husband. Adam's memory was driving a wedge between them and all he wanted was Maddie's love.
