Dana MacKenzie hoped for a challenging job at the weekly paper in Warrenton, Oregon. What she got was chaos and uproar. The office was managed by a smart-mouthed teenager who squeezed in work hours between her high-school classes. Local news was culled from the gossipy reports of an obstreperous little old lady. And the publisher, Gabe Cameron, just barely managed to get the paper printed by antique machinery that constantly threatened collapse.

These certainly weren't the surroundings Dana was accustomed to. But then again, Gabe, with his frenetic pace and outrageous friends, wasn't like any man she had ever met.
