Trading her high-tech, high-stress Silicon Valley career for her own computer fraud investigations agency, Julie Blake embarks on her first case: the disappearance of Arnie Lufkin, a renegade programming genius and suspected embezzler.

Julie and her partner/lover, Vic Paoli, have barely agreed to take the case when her system is broken into and a threatening message left on her screen. Scared, but with creditors snapping at her heels, Julie decides to dig deeper.

A foray into virtual reality proves that not only is the missing Lufkin a brilliant man, but a dangerous, egocentric manipulator. Wherever he is, Lufkin is playing deadly games, making murder a reality.
