About This Book

Michael Carter is a math teacher who lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia and works at Primrose Junior Secondary School. His daughter went missing, and his wife died of Hodgkin's Disease. He is depressed and alone, but must overcome obstacles to find happiness. But he doesn't believe he could ever love another woman or find his daughter and be happy again. At the beginning of the school year, a girl named Elizabeth is in his math class. She has her own troubles. She can't get along with other teenagers. And she is constantly teased. She has a poor home life and is taken out and put into a foster home where she is cared about. Michael meets another woman named Alison at a particular coffee shop in Halifax. She had some trials of her own, having been in an abusive marriage. They fall in love, and then something unexpected happens.
