The Feds wanted to know why the mail kept disappearing on a certain shallow stretch of the river they called the Big Muddy. So they sent Longarm, in disguise, to take a gander.

On board the steamship Minnitipi, he faced a lavender-coated sharpster with more than one ace up his sleeve, a traveling trio of ladies (who were all more innocent on deck than in his stateroom), and a smart, seductive sea captain named Gloria.

Soon Longarm found the only way to crack the mail case was to play a lively game of Post Office with some dangerous and desirable females..
