The way Longarm saw it, his old friend Jessie Starbuck was easy on his eyes, but hard on his health. When he answered her telegram he didn't reckon on a welcoming committee of local lawmen out to try her for murder...or a pack of fast-shooting outlaws with a hankering for a little low-down justice.

Longarm just couldn't figure how such a pretty little lady could get herself tangled up in such bad business. And he had enough on his mind, like staying one step ahead of a vengeful gypsy clan, a couple of tribes of riled-up Indians, and a few crazy "white eyes" with Gatling guns.

But then again, Longarm knew that whenever Jessie Starbuck was involved, only the lovin' and the dyin' were easy.
